Hazelwick flyover to close for repairs

THE Hazelwick Avenue flyover is to close for 16 weeks in early 2013 to allow West Sussex County Council to carry out vital refurbishment work.

The county council said that the condition of the 40-year-old structure, which consists of two bridges that straddle the Hazlewick Roundabout, is deteriorating and £650,000 of work needs to be done to install new bearings add a waterproof membrane, expansion joints and to resurface the road.

For safety reasons, the flyover will be closed to traffic throughout the duration of the work.

A signed diversion will be in place for motorists who use the bridges that link Hazelwick Avenue and Gatwick Road.
