If you happen to be wandering from Bexhill to Brighton next month, don’t be alarmed if you should happen upon two giant yellow chickens. The chickens in question will be Karen White and Sophie Comport and when it comes to fundraising efforts, they plan to finish very high in the pecking order.

Karen, 33, of Southgate, and Sophie, 26, of Balcombe, will be walking a 36-mile route between the two towns on December 1 to raise money for Cancer Research UK. And the chicken suits? Karen said: “Because it’s for charity it’s good to get dressed up. And because we both own chickens we thought it was a good idea.” To sponsor the pair, log on to www. justgiving.com/thechicks
