A green-fingered mother won first place in Horley in Bloom 2014 for her home’s front garden and second place for her back garden.
Catherine Robertson, 42, of Sangers Drive, Horley, was looking forward to taking her boys to see her get certificates for the wins at Horley Town Hall in Albert Road on September 26.
Catherine said: “I’m looking forward to it greatly, and I’ll take my children with me.
“They’ll get the opportunity to see their mum get an award - it’ll be nice to turn the tables.”
Judges for the competition were “extremely impressed” with entries from the town’s businesses, houses, flats and community groups.
Mike George, Horley in Bloom chairman, said: “We were delighted to see so many newcomers entering the competition this year and our judges were once again extremely impressed with the high quality of the entries.”
On her winning strategy, Catherine said: “You just have to go with the flow and have a range of plants.”
She added: “I love the way the garden changes all year round. I see it as almost painting but with plants.”
Catherine has two boys, Benjamin, 11, and Fraser, 8.
