Ikea is searching for store site in Sussex
IKEA has announced it is looking at potential sites for a new store in Sussex - but says it had no plans to open a unit in County Oak Retail Park, Crawley.
The company, which designs and sells ready to assemble furniture, has been in discussions with councils across the country in its quest to open a new store in the UK.
It has been identifying potential sites on the edge of town centres but despite rumours the furniture giant could open at County Oak in Crawley, the chain says it has no plans to do so.
A spokeswoman for Ikea said: “Ikea has made a conscious decision to identify sites in or on the edge of town centres throughout the UK in accordance with Central Govt Planning policy.
“We can confirm that we have been looking at sites within the county of Sussex.
“However, at this time, Ikea has not purchased any retail units at County Oak Retail Park, nor has any plans to open a unit there.”
