Inspired pupils raise £1,000 for orphanage

PUPILS at Maidenbower Infant School raised more than £1,000 for children in Africa.

The youngsters diligently saved 20p coins in Smartie tubes and made collections at their Christmas nativity performance.

They raised the money after learning about the plight of children at an orphanage in South Africa.

The money was given to COCO’s Foundation, whose trustees built a trauma centre at the Ubombo Orphanage after raising £10,000.

The money will go towards the 21 vulnerable children aged from 18-months to 15 who depend on the centre.
