Irish Dancing Champions

FIVE Irish dancers had a grand success at the European Irish Dancing Championships in Germany.

Abigail Collins, 16, Rebeka Callow, 10, Tyler Edmunds, 9, and Hannah and Georgie Sell, 17 and 12 travelled from Andromeda Edmund's School of Irish Dancing, Broadfield to Duisburg, Germany.

Between them the nimble footed youngsters won 13 first places.

Teacher, Andromeda Edmunds said: "I'm really, really proud of them. They did really well."

Particular victory came for Abigail, who was placed second in the open championships and Rebeka and Tyler who won the two hand figure.

Andromeda said: "It was a great experience because they were dancing against dancers from all over the globe.

"They met so many dancers from everywhere, it really opened their eyes and they loved it, absolutely loved it."

She added that they were definitely looking forward to doing well next year.

Andromeda has been teaching Irish dancing in Crawley for 12 years. Classes run on Sundays at Broadfield Community Centre.
