JJB Sports jobs at risk

TOWN Centre jobs are at risk after JJB Sports announced plans to call in administrators.

Half of the retailer’s 180 stores could shut across the UK leaving 4,000 jobs hanging in the balance.

No information was available about the future of the Crawley store or jobs.

JJB said it hoped to announce a sale of the trade, assets and brands of the company within the next few days.

The company has proposed to officially appoint Tilgate-based accountancy firm KPMG as administrators just before the completion of a sale.

It is expected that rival firm Sports Direct may buy up some of the JJB stores.
