A community leader has been recognised for his work promoting Irish culture in Crawley.

John Nolan, chairman of the Celtic and Irish Cultural Society, received a community award at the Irish World Newspapers awards, where he rubbed shoulders with the likes of Sinead O’Connor and Paralympic champion Michael McKillop.

He said: “It’s great that the Celtic and Irish Cultural Society is recognised for its contribution to Crawley life. Crawley would be far worse without it working for the good of its community.”
