K2 Crawley has been chosen by Badminton England as one of only five venues in the country to pilot a new badminton coaching scheme for adult beginners.
The course will start at K2 Crawley on Tuesday September 3 from 6-7pm and continue for eight consecutive weeks.
The “Essentials” programme is aimed at adults keen to learn and improve ‘essential’ badminton skills. The sessions will be led by a qualified Badminton England coach.
The aim is that the group will be fun and sociable, enabling people to enjoy developing their skills in a relaxed environment.
Dave Downey, community sports development officer from Freedom Leisure, which operates the centre on behalf of Crawley Borough Council, welcomed the decision.
He said: “We are very proud to have been chosen to pilot this national badminton coaching programme for adult beginners.
“We already run a successful No Strings drop in pay and play badminton session and I believe the demand is there for taking people right back to the basic skills in order that they can develop their game. We are fortunate to have this opportunity in Crawley and I hope people will make the most of the chance to take part in this pilot scheme.”
The course costs £40 – equivalent to £5 per session - for the professional coaching. For more information, or to book a place, call Badminton England on 01908 268 466 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
