COPS rushing to a 'serious assault' that left a man covered in blood found a four-inch lock knife lying at the scene.

Broadfield House was being patrolled by a six police officers on Monday afternoon after a lakeside dust up.

Crawley cops cordoned off an area of bank on Broadfield House Lake this afternoon after a lock knife was discovered at the scene of a 'vicious brawl'.

Police are checking CCTV from Broadfield House in an attempt to piece together the afternoon's events.

Eye witnesses told the Observer that 'it was kicking off at Broadfield House' and that a man was 'covered in blood' just after 4pm.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "I can confirm that an incident took place this afternoon and that Crawley officers are currently guarding the scene. Forensics officers are on their way to Broadfield House as we speak."

It is unclear whether the knife was used in the fight or how many people were involved.

Police have yet to confirm whether anyone was arrested or the severity of any injuries suffered in the lakeside scrap.
