The victim, who is in his 30s, was hit on the back of the head at the Sainsbury’s petrol station, in Crawley Avenue, at around 3.30pm on Monday (January 14).

The victim received a cut to the back of his head which required hospital treatment.

Detective Constable Oliver Summers of West Sussex CID said: “I would like to hear from anyone who saw that assault taking place, or anyone who heard the two men talking at the petrol station before the incident.”

Anyone with information which may assist police is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 960 of 14/1 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
