Man bailed over Crawley robbery and stabbing

A man who was arrested after a shop worker was stabbed has been bailed, say police.

The shop worker was taken to East Surrey Hospital with stab wounds following a knife-point robbery at The Martin’s newsagent, in Southgate Parade, shortly before 3pm on Tuesday (May 13).

A spokesman for Sussex Police said a man entered the shop, threatened the shop worker with a knife and demanded money.

A quantity of money was handed over.

The shop workers received stab wounds to his hand and bottom as he tried to get the man out of the shop.

A man was arrested on May 14.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “The 48-year-old man arrested for robbery and ABH has been bailed until August 8 while investigations continue.”
