Man kicked during robbery

A 20-year-old man was kicked on the floor and had his iPhone 5 stolen as he walked home in Tilgate. He was walking from Whistler Close into Holbein Road at about 5.50pm on March 7 when he noticed he was being followed.

Two men shouted and chased him causing him to run and fall over on the corner of Holbein and Hogarth Road. He was kicked and felt a knee on his back as he tried to get up. The men went through his pockets and took his phone before running towards the playing fields.

They are described as mid 20s. One was white, about 6ft, skinny, wearing a grey hoodie and jeans. The other was black, shorter, stocky, with a black jumper and a chinstrap-style beard with no moustache.

DC Kai Murray said: “This was a frightening ordeal but fortunately the victim suffered only a bitten tongue.”

Contact police on 101 quoting serial 1355 of 7/3.
