Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Crawley yesterday evening (Monday September 23).
The victim, a 36-year-old man, was walking along Malthouse Road towards Brighton Road at 9pm when three men approached him and punched him in the face.
They tried to steal his briefcase but the victim held onto it.
Detective Sergeant Glenn Willcocks said: “The suspects are described as between 16 and 18. One was around 6ft, with a grey hat and grey scarf covering his lower face with a blue hooded top and jeans. The other two were wearing grey hooded tops and jeans.
“The victim was walking past St Catherine’s Hospice at the time of the attack and had his glasses taken off before he was punched, but luckily does not seem to be seriously injured.
“The suspects ran off towards the station when a passer by approached.
“During the incident, the victim has lost his glasses, they are described as thin rimmed photochromatic glasses and have not yet been recovered.
“This was a nasty and unprovoked attack and we are appealing to anyone who saw anything to come forward. Please get in touch on 101 or email email@example.com quoting serial 1691 of 23/9. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
