Media students film couple’s wedding day

Central Sussex College students helped make one couple’s wedding extra special when they filmed the entire day.
Dan and Nicola Starmer called in to the college recently for a private screening of the video, which was filmed and edited by Level 3 students from the Creative Media Production course last autumn.
Dan and Nicola invited the students to film their big day at Horsham Registry Office.
They were delighted to be able to see the fruits of their hard work just before Christmas and were joined for the screening by their youngest son Sullivan, media lecturer Don Allen, videographers Josh Duffil-LaCruz, 17, and Carlo Saccenti, 24, plus students from the Level 1 media programme at thecollege.
Nicola said: “I was really pleased with the video. They’ve done a really great, professional job.”
Dan added: “The quality is great - it really captures the emotion of the ceremony.”
Nicola and Dan have now signed-up for a family portrait, which will be shot in a formal, studio setting at the college later this month by Level 1 students.
Student Mazie Delaney, 18, from Tollgate Hill, was very excited when she found out that she would be involved with the project and said: “Since I started my course in September we have done a shoot at the Hawth, another at Drusillas and we have also filmed the opening of the University Centre at Central Sussex College.
“Now we are getting to do a real portrait session, which is just amazing!”
Chris Beer, course co-ordinator for media at the college was keen to incorporate as many professional experiences as possible for the students during their time at the college.
He said: “Enabling students to work on real projects from when they start at Level 1 is a great boost to their self-confidence. It also demonstrates to youngsters that they can progress to new and higher-level courses within the college and really pushes the limits of what they think they can do.
“In future these students may even be studying for university level courses here at Central Sussex College which will be fantastic!”
