Two men who police wanted to speak to in connection with some Egyptian money being changed at a store in Crawley are no longer being linked with the enquiry into a series of burglaries in the area.
Detective Sergeant Dave Grover said: “The two lads have come forward as a result of the publicity and we have established that they are not involved in our enquiry.
“Unfortunately, the circumstances of their transaction were very similar to what we are looking for, but we are satisfied with their explanation and I should like to thank them for their assistance.
“I am aware that this has caused them some embarrassment locally, but I am quite happy to set the record straight and I applaud them for their public-spiritedness in quickly coming forward and co-operating with us.”
The investigation into five burglaries in the Pound Hill area between August 12-15 continues.
Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 1013 of 12/08.
