Metrobus updates timetable after flood disruption

Metrobus has issued an updated timetable following wide-spread disruption as roads in the area flooded.

A spokesman said: “Due to heavy rain, many roads are becoming flooded or blocked by fallen trees where saturated ground has become unstable leading to trees falling over.

“The following diversions and/or curtailments are currently in operation.

“All other services are following their normal routes but with delays of up to 120 minutes in places, particularly on our rural and interurban services.”

Route 4 - PART SUSPENDED between Crawley Bus Station, Three Bridges and Pound Hill due to worsening flooding. Only operating County Oak to Crawley at present.

Route 5 - PART SUSPENDED between Crawley Bus Station, Three Bridges and Pound Hill due to worsening flooding. Only operating County Oak to Crawley at present.

Route 20 - Unable to serve Haslett Avenue, Three Bridges or Hazelwick Avenue due to increasing flooding at Three Bridges. Being diverted via Northgate Avenue to Hazelwick Roundabout. Buses will run up to Hazelwick Tesco still, using the roundabout to turn round.

Route 82 - Unable to serve Copthorne Road, Worth Park Avenue, Three Bridges Station or Haslett Avenue due to flooding

Route 84 - Unable to serve Worth Road, Three Bridges Station or Haslett Avenue due to flooding.

Route 100 - PART SUSPENDED between Crawley Bus Station, Three Bridges and Maidenbower due the flooding. Only operating Redhill to Crawley at present.

Route 281 - Unable to serve Copthorne Road, Worth Park Avenue, Three Bridges Station or Three Bridges Road due to flooding. Buses diverting via Northgate Avenue and Crawley Avenue.

Route 291 - Unable to serve Copthorne Road, Worth Park Avenue, Three Bridges Station or Three Bridges Road due to flooding. Buses diverting via Northgate Avenue and Crawley Avenue. Service now RESTORED between Groombridge and Tunbridge Wells, but on a diversionary route due to fallen trees. Unable to serve the normal route via Langton at present

Route 400 - Unable to serve Copthorne Road, Worth Park Avenue, Three Bridges Station or Haslett Avenue due to flooding. Buses diverting back via Northgate Avenue and Crawley Avenue Major delays due to gridlocked traffic at several points along the route.

Route 420 - Major delays due to gridlock on the A217

Route 460 - Major delays due to gridlock on the A217

Route 480 - Major delays due to gridlock on the A217 delaying route 460 which shares buses with route 480.

Route 526 - Sorry, service now SUSPENDED IN FULL due to numerous floods blocking the route and any suitable diversions.

Route 527 - Sorry, service now SUSPENDED IN FULL due to numerous floods blocking the route and any suitable diversions.

Route R8 - Currently unable to operate between Downe Church and The Black Horse in Biggin Hill due to flooding in Jail Lane near Foal Farm. Buses are diverting via Leaves Green Road and Rookery Road instead. If the road is blocked when Charles Darwin School finishes for the day, buses will double run to the school to collect the school children.

Further rain has been forecast for today and with regret, we do not know what level of service will be operating later. Please check this site regularly for updates.

Southern trains are now operating again between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges following the earlier flooding. However, major delays are still occuring whilst trains work back to normal. Train services between East Grinstead and Hurst Green have now been SUSPENDED due to flooding with no replacement bus service possible due to flooded roads. Advice to passengers to allow extra time for their journeys, and to check the Southern website regularly as further rain is forecast for this afternoon. For more information click here

First Capital Connect are now operating again between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges following the earlier flooding. However, major delays are still expected to occur until the close of service. Advice to passengers NOT TO ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL today. For more information click here
