Monkey about at Tilgate Park
An award winning tree top adventure course will be built in Tilgate Park.
Planning permission for a Go Ape adventure facility at the Tilgate Drive site was granted during a Crawley Borough Council (CBC) development control committee meeting on Monday (March 4).
The application for the zip wire tree top assault course received 140 representation of support and no objections during its consultation since November 2012.
It was granted on the grounds that the course and cabin reception area would not have an adverse impact on the ancient woodland, historic garden or trees.
Ben Davies, Go Ape business development manager, said he hoped to have Crawley residents monkeying about by May 2013.
He said: “We’re really excited and very, very pleased with the outcome and we can’t wait to get cracking.
“We have a few conditions to discharge, which we will take care of as soon as possible but we hope to start working within the next few weeks.”
The plan involves a main assault course in the woodland behind the walled gardens and a smaller course for six to 12-year-old children above the play area near the car park.
