MP’s ‘delight’ as 48 families take a step on to housing ladder

The latest Help to Buy figures have been welcomed by MP Henry Smith.

According the latest figures, the scheme has helped 48 families across the Crawley area onto the housing ladder.

“I remember how tough it was to get that first mortgage, so I am delighted that the policies of this government are directly helping people in our town get on the housing ladder,” said Mr Smith.

He added: “The growing Kilnwood Vale development, as well as Forge Wood, our town’s 14th neighbourhood, will result in thousands of affordable new homes.

“As a result, more and more local families will be able to own their first home, and enjoy the greater financial security that comes with home ownership.”

According to housing charity Shelter, the average median price of a home in Crawley in 2013 was £195,500.
