MP welcomes cap on the cost of care

Crawley MP Henry Smith has welcomed a new cap of £75,000 on the cost of social care for the elderly, which will come into force in 2017.

The threshold for the value of assets someone can hold before qualifying for support will also rise from £23,250 to £123,000.
