Number one best-selling author set to visit library to talk about latest success story

Best-selling author Lesley Pearse will be visiting Horsham Library on March 26 to talk about her latest novel, Forgive Me.

Her 21st novel went to number two on its release in February and tells the story of a daughter uncovering her dead mother’s secrets.

The event starts at 7pm. Tickets are £3 and are available from Horsham Library on 01403 224353.

Lesley Pearse is a global number one bestseller with fans across the world and sales of over five million copies of her books so far.

After the historical setting for her most recent bestsellers, Belle and The Promise, Lesley is back on contemporary ground for her 21st novel.

Cheltenham, 1991: When Eva Patterson returns home from work one day, a devastating scene awaits: her mother, Flora, lies dead in the bath. Beside her is a note saying only “Forgive Me”.

Eva’s ordered world beings to unravel at an alarming pace when she discovers that her stay-at-home mother was not only a successful artist back in the 1960s – something she had never mentioned – but that the man she called ‘father’ was not her own.

As the life she has known fall apart, Eva starts to piece together her mother’s past via her paintings and diaries and, searching for answers, encounters a psychic who mysteriously warns her to beware of “a sleeping serpent”.

Lesley’s colourful life – from hanging out in 1960s London club-land to bunny girl, from nursery worker to gift shop owner – meant she was a latecomer to writing and her debut novel, Georgia, was published in her late 40s.

Lesley lives between Bristol and Bath and has three daughters and two grandsons. A committed and passionate fundraiser for the NSPCC, Lesley speaks at functions across the UK in support of their work.
