A Bewbush pre-school was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
Tykes Pre-school in Dorsten Square was given the second highest of four ratings in a report published by the inspectorate.
Kimberley Yeoman, 34, the owner, said: “We are really pleased with our ofsted report.
“Our staffing team work extremely hard and to a high standard and will continue to do so ensuring we give our children the best possible start to their growth and education.”
Ofsted inspector Daphne Brown visited the school on April 2.
Her report praised the school’s quality of the teaching and children’s eagerness to learn.
It stated: “Children are happy and eager to involve themselves in the varied activities and learn through play.
“Staff are skilled at asking open-ended questions to develop children’s critical thinking skills to extend their learning and development.
“Partnership with parents is good and there are regular opportunities to share ideas and involve parents in the learning and development of their children.”
The school’s leadership and management was ‘very good’ with staff supported with regular supervision.
Its partnerships with other professional services was reported to be ‘highly effective’.
The school was not rated ‘Outstanding’ - the highest rating - because of the standard of its outdoor learning.
Kimberley said more than £5,000 was spent on the school’s outdoor area in response to the report.
She said: “We now offer free flow play to our children all day every day to extend their outside learning experiences.”
