Organisers given licence to thrill at Selsey's annual fireworks

Selsey has been given a licence to thrill at this year's annual fireworks celebrations.

This year is the 30th year of Selsey Fireworks and the event on October 17 will have a James Bond theme, with fireworks synchronised to the film music and a Bond display.

Other attractions will be the ever- popular live music, the Spirit FM roadshow and a charity market with the event being held at the Bunn Leisure White Horse Playing Field, off Warner Lane.

"It is still early days and the committee is working hard to add other features to further enhance the entire event which always to increase in popularity each year," said vice-chairman of the fireworks committee Mervyn Hall.

Meanwhile, 10,000 raised at last year's event has been donated to 24 local good causes at the committee's annual presentation night.

Chairman David Butcher thanked all the local businesses who helped the organisers achieve this sum in extremely difficult trading times.

More than 150 invited guests attended the evening which also included a disco, buffet, raffle and the dramatic announcement of the details for this year's display.
