Police call meeting over Crawley gold burglaries

Waiting for Video...

Police called a last-minute meeting last night amid growing pressure to end a spate of Asian gold burglaries.

More than 200 residents packed into the Civic Hall to hear what action the police were taking.

A total of 34 Asian households in Crawley have been broken into with thieves making off with high-purity gold jewellery.

Chief Inspector Steve Curry told the meeting that he was making the capture of the organised criminal gangs responsible for the thefts his personal responsibility.
