A 14-year-old autistic boy from Crawley has gone missing after visiting Burgess Hill with his father yesterday (Tuesday September 4).

Oliver Godby was last seen in Woodland Avenue at around 5pm.

Police were alerted shortly after 7.30pm and searches have taken place overnight in Burgess Hill, the Maidenbower area of Crawley where he lives and also Horsham, where he has family connections.

Inspector Shane Lambert said: “Oliver has gone missing on a couple of occasions before, but only for a few hours. We are concerned as although he is a strapping lad of nearly 6’, he has a learning age of only about eight or nine and is therefore extremely vulnerable. He does tend to shy away from people and likes ‘scary’ places such as graveyards.”

Oliver is described as 5ft 11in, of medium build with blond hair and wearing a green/grey patterned T-shirt, black and white shorts and flip flops.

Insp Lambert added: “While we think he may well be trying to head for Horsham, he could be anywhere in the mid or north Sussex area. If you see him, please call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 1674. If he is in danger or needs medical attention, please dial 999 immediately.”
