Police warning over home security after spate of burglaries
POLICE are linking around a dozen burglaries committed in the past fortnight.
The series of thefts have tended to target open or unlocked ground-floor doors and windows of residential homes.
It is thought two men could be working together to identify insecure dwellings.
Crawley police now have a dedicated team of senior CID officers investigating the crime. The burglaries are not being linked with a separate spate of sophisticated burglaries targeting high-value jewellry in Asian households.
PS Jim Collen said: “Crawley police have become aware of emerging series of dwelling burglaries which are possibly being committed by two males operating together.
“They are targeting ground-floor insecurities such as patio floors or larger windows.
“We would warn everyone to take extra care when ensuring their homes are properly secure, and urge that any suspicious activities be reported to the police.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 08456070999.
