Pony saved by firemen

Crawley firefighters were called to save a pony from a stream on Sunday afternoon (March 17).

A fire engine and Range Rover attended the scene to help the trapped animal in Steers Lane, Crawley, just after 3.45pm.

The small pony was stuck in 3ft of fast flowing water.

It was pulled from the water with the use of animal lines and specialist animal rescue equipment.

The pony was left with an RSPCA officer.

An RSPCA spokesperson said: “The pony was in good condition and safe thanks to the fire service.”
