A WOMAN who died moments before she was due to abseil down Crawley Hospital has been posthumously rewarded for her charity work.

Gertie Pointer, 96, of Three Bridges died from a suspected heart attack shortly before she was due to scale 70ft down the hospital for 4SIGHT.

Her niece Sonia Apted collected an award from Housing 21 for raising £10,000 for CLIC Sargent.

Dominic Rothwell,from Housing 21, said: “Gertie was a remarkable lady and a true inspiration.”
