Prize giveaway in County Mall to celebrate new-look Crawley Observer

There were smiles all round at the Crawley Observer relaunch and cash giveaway in County Mall last week as readers not only got to admire their new-look paper but also had the chance to walk away £5 richer.

The Mayor of Crawley, Cllr Keith Blake, accepted the first copy of the paper from editor-in-chief Gary Shipton before he and the mayoress Cllr Sally Blake helped hand out lucky envelopes to customers.

Delighted Gillian Chapman, 59, opened her envelope to find a crisp £5 note. She said: “I’m so pleased, I don’t normally win anything.”

Other readers walked away with lottery scratch cards, window stickers, copies of Looking Back At Crawley and money off vouchers.

Cllr Blake commented: “I think it’s a very impressive look – very readable. It seems there are lots more little stories and the paper is carrying even more content. It’s a big change, but one for the better.”

Mr Shipton said: “It was clear that readers love their Obby and thoroughly approve of the new look.

“It was great to meet so many of them. They also gave us lots of story suggestions which were greatly appreciated. We are doing it all again today (Wednesday October 10) from noon to 1pm – so if you couldn’t join us last week in County Mall, it would be great to see you today.”

Just fill in the coupon in the new edition of the Crawley Observer on sale today.
