Pub landlady and mum give up beds for men stranded by weather

A landlady and her mother gave up their beds for three men who became stranded in the extreme weather on Monday night.

Nicky Chamberlain, 44, kept The Black Swan in Pease Pottage open until nearly 3am on Tuesday as motorists abandoned cars in search of food at the service stations. “It was getting really late and we decided to serve up tea and coffee,” said Nicky, who slept on the pub sofa.
