Queens Square prepares for Bandstand Marathon

THE town centre will play its part in celebrating the end of what has been an amazing year for the UK with a Bandstand Marathon.

The marathon, which will include music from local groups such as Prime Addiction, Danny Dangerously and The Tandem, will be part of the London 2012 Festival closing celebrations.

The Queens Square event will be one of hundreds of outdoor concerts taking place simultaneously in bandstands and performance spaces across the UK on Sunday (September 9).

Cllr Lenny Walker (Con, Maidenbower), Cabinet member for leisure and culture, said: “Crawley has been blessed with Olympic and Paralympic events this summer, including the Torch Relay, Light a Lantern Festival and pre-Games training camps.

“The Bandstand Marathon is a great way to mark the end of this fantastic summer of sport and culture so come along to Queens Square and help us celebrate.”

The Bandstand Marathon is a free event and will run from 2-6pm.
