Four horses brought part of the A23 to a standstill yesterday evening (Tuesday October 8).
The A23 London Road in Crawley was shut in both directions between the Fleming Way junction and Lowfield Heath roundabout after the animals were spotted on the loose at around 5.45pm.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Four horses were seen by a member of the public to be loose at Cherry Lane recreation ground, Crawley.
“The A23 was shut for a short while as a precaution but police searched the area and the horses were found in nearby Poles Lane within minutes.
“The owner was contacted and recovered them. There was no damage and no injury.”
