Work on two roads in Crawley are scheduled for this week.
Footway improvements will take place in Trefoil Crescent/Mullein Walk, Broadfield, all week and traffic light improvements are taking place, subject to change, in Hazelwick Avenue (near path to Pond Wood Road), Three Bridges, for two days.
Traffic lights in Hophurst Lane, Crawley Down will also be improved over three days.
Two-way traffic lights will be in place throughout all the works.
Footway improvements involve renewing kerbs and the surface of the footway, providing edging, replacing damaged slabs or replacing slabs with tarmac.
The work will involve footway closures and may cause some disruption to vehicle crossovers.
However, the county council says it will try to maintain access to any property during the working day and will ensure that access is available during non-working hours.
Traffic signal work can include both controlled pedestrian crossings and junctions which are controlled by lights.
This type of scheme may involve the installation of new traffic lights, or may be a refurbishment of an existing traffic light system.
The scheme may include improvements to signing and road markings, or installation of timed flashing light units to alert drivers during periods where pupils are likely to be in the area. County Council contractor Balfour Beatty is doing the work and all works are subject to change.
