Robbery at betting shop

Two men fled with several hundred pounds after robbing a betting shop on Tuesday (January 22).

The robbers entered the William Hill shop in Three Bridges Road, Crawley, at around 7.50pm and held up a note demanding money to the cash window.

No weapon was seen but members of staff handed over the cash before the robbers fled.

DC Kai Murray, from Crawley CID, said: “Fortunately no-one was injured in the shop and no weapons were seen but staff were extremely shaken by the ordeal.

“There are very limited descriptions of the offenders, but one is believed to have been wearing a dark jacket with a scarf across his face and carrying a drawstring bag. The other wore a light jacket.

“We are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time, who has any information about what happened, or who recognises the descriptions of the offenders.

“We would ask anyone who can help to call police on 101, quoting serial 1572 of 22/01, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
