Steam triggers alarm at medical centre

FIRE crews were called to Southgate Medical Centre on Sunday evening (September 23) after steam from a boiler triggered a smoke alarm.

Firefighters were called to the surgery on Brighton Road at 6:52pm after initial reports of smoke issuing from the building.

A spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Our crews did attend the centre because the alarms were going off but it was discovered the alarms had been triggered from steam coming from a boiler.”
