STEMfest prepares for launch
Manor Royal businesses have been invited to meet teachers to discuss the importantance of science and technology in preparation for this year’s STEMfest.
STEMfest encourages young people to get involved in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and, following the success of last year’s festival, organisers will be holding a free event on Wednesday (March 13).
As well as giving businesses the opportunity to meet with educators, the event will feature a performance of ‘It IS Rocket Science!, a comedy science show by award-winning stand-up Helen Keen.
Jo McKinney, STEM Sussex Project Manager, said: “We want people from Manor Royal – both those who already work in STEM and those who don’t – to join us in a relaxed and informal setting and find out more about STEM and why we should encourage young people to study in these areas.”
Crawley STEMfest 2013 will take place in schools and colleges, and in the community in general, during the summer, culminating in the Big Bang South East science fair, at The Hawth, on July 2.
