There will be strawberries for everyone when a special tea party is held in Crawley in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

On Sunday August 3, Samantha Shelford, from Broadfield, will host a Strawberry Tea Party at The Haven Centre, Crawley Down, in memory of her mother.

Samantha, 37, is looking for help from the community to make the event a success.

She said: “I must personally thank all my friends and family for the support they have given me in holding this event including the donation of hampers and a VERY large teddy for ‘guess the name of the bear’ kindly donated by two of my neighbours.

“I also can’t believe the generosity of local companies in helping me make this possible. We’ve had support from Olivers Winewarehouse, Copthorne, Tilgate Bakery, Ashdown Flowers, Lush, Flanagans Butchers, The New York Coffee Club, Stirrups Equestrian Supplies, Away Ahead salon, McColls and the lovely Jo Cook from Maidenbower (Face painting by Jo) has also agreed to help out on the day.

“But we still need more raffle prizes and items for the event including strawberries! So do get in touch if you can help. My number is 07768 997591.”

Rebecca Woollgar, area fundraiser for London and South at Breast Cancer Care added: “We’re so grateful to Samantha for holding a Strawberry Tea in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

“We rely on supporters like Samantha to ensure we can continue to provide our vital emotional support network for free. We help thousands of people find a way to live with, through and beyond breast cancer.

“With one in eight women developing breast cancer in their lifetime, there has never been such an urgent need for our support services.”

Breast Cancer Care’s Strawberry Tea campaign, which is sponsored by fine bone china teaware specialist Royal Albert, runs until August 31.

If you’d like to hold your own Strawberry Tea you can order a free fundraising kit at www.breastcancercare.org.uk/strawberry or call 0870 164 9422.
