Taxi ranks still in pipeline

Plans to install new taxi ranks outside Lloyds TSB on The Boulevard and in Queensway are still in the pipeline.

The proposals were approved by Crawley Borough Council’s Licensing Committee in September but work has yet to begin.

A council spokesman said: “We are currently working with West Sussex County Council’s Highways department to progress arrangements for a Traffic Regulation Order. This is required before the new taxi rank can be created but can take some time. Timescales are unclear at the moment, although we will have a better idea in the next few weeks.”

The request for more spaces came from the Crawley Hackney Carriage Association .
