Teacher and student have swine flu

A Horley school has reported two cases of swine flu, the Observer can reveal.

A member of staff and a pupil at Oakwood School, Balcombe Road, have been taken ill, the school confirmed today (Monday July 6).

In a statement on the school's website and in a letter to parents head teacher Sue Child said: "I am writing to let you know that there have been reported to us two cases of influenza A/H1N1v ("swine flu") in the school community (a teacher and student).

"We are working closely with the Health Protection Agency and Surrey County Council who have advised us that swine flu is usually a mild illness. The school is remaining open, but the situation is being kept under review. The school website will be updated regularly with the latest information."
