A teenage boy was charged with burglary after a pursuit through Horley.

A detective, who was making enquiries in Horley town centre on an unrelated matter, saw a man acting suspiciously at around 2.15pm yesterday (Sunday March 16).

There was a pursuit by detectives and officers through a number of streets and gardens in the Yattendon area of Horley, including Lumley Road, Oakwood Road and Albert Road.

Inspector Dan Gutierrez, said: “No doubt the pursuit which included a number of officers and the helicopter caused concern in this usually quiet part of Horley but I would like to reassure the community that we have now arrested a man and he remains in police custody at this time.

“I would like to thank the residents of the streets affected for their understanding while this pursuit was in progress and anyone who would like to discuss the incident further can contact the neighbourhood team on 101.”

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with burglary on Sunday and has been remanded in custody to appear at South East Surrey Magistrates Court today (Monday March 17).
