Crawley Borough Council has delivered 7,500 bins for rubbish to Crawley households, marking the start of a roll-out schedule across the town.

Residents in Langley Green, Northgate, Pound Hill North and Three Bridges received their wheeled bins last week in the first of a three-phase roll out.

A council spokesman said: “The green-based, black-lidded wheeled bins will provide an easier way for residents to store their rubbish, make collections easier and safer for collection teams and keep streets cleaner and clearer on collection day.”

Homes with a Tuesday or Wednesday collection day will get their bin in July and those with a Thursday or Friday collection day in September.

Graham Rowe, partnership services manager, said “We are excited to be able to offer this further improvement thanks to government funding and a new contract between Crawley Borough Council and Biffa Municipal Ltd.”
