Three arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Crawley

Two teenagers and a man were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an attack which left another man with serious head injuries.

Police were called to Shaws Road, Northgate, at 9.45pm on Tuesday (July 15) following the attack on the 53-year-old, which an officer said happened both inside and outside an address in the road.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said the victim, who was of no fixed abode, was left with a deep gash to his head and had suffered extensive facial fractures.

A 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released on bail until August 21.

A 27-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was released on bail until August 16.

A 47-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer was released on bail until August 16.

Describing the incident as “a nasty assault”, Detective Inspector Mark Cullimore said: “We are investigating an attack involving people known to each other.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened to call police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
