Three buildings in Crawley have won accolades in the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) South East Building Excellence Awards.

County Mall shopping centre won the Best Partnership category at the awards on Friday (June 6) in recognition of the working relationship between Jones Lang LaSalle, the centre managers, and Sussex Building Control – the LABC service for Crawley Borough Council and Horsham District Council.

The team has worked together for more than 20 years to make sure any building work undertaken in the centre is safe and in line with the Government’s building regulations.

The Morrison’s/Travelodge development in the town centre won Best Commercial Building Award alongside the new Mercedes-Benz showroom on Gatwick Road.

In addition, Steven Smith of Countryside Properties was highly commended for his work as site agent at Buchan’s Mead, Breezehurst Drive.

He was presented with the award in recognition of the excellent way he has managed the site and delivered high quality new housing in Crawley.

The LABC Awards recognise and reward construction excellence, acknowledging the skills and expertise required to deliver buildings that are safe and comfortable for people to use.
