A witness to the aftermath of a crash in which a car was impaled on a tree told how he heard a screeching sound before the collision.

Aidan Davenport, 21, ran out of his home in Meridian Close, Bewbush, after a Toyota Starlet collided with a tree at around 2.30am today (Wednesday June 18).

The driver and passenger were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Aidan, who called the emergency services to the scene, said: β€œThe loudness of it was shocking - tyres screeching, two thuds then a massive bang.”
