UPDATE: Man in critical condition after Gossops Green ‘vicious assault’
A man in his 30s is in a critical condition after he was beaten at his home in Gossops Green, Crawley, in the early hours of this morning (Monday, October 22).
He is being treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
Police responded to calls from neighbours regarding noise in a flat in Gossops Parade at 3am.
A police spokesman said: “On arrival at the flat above the parade of shops they gave first aid to the victim, who suffered serious injuries, and arrested two men nearby.”
Detective Inspector Tracy Edwards said: “This was a vicious assault. I would appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything at that time to contact us. It is believed that two men, who we believe are known to the victim, had entered the flat and a vicious assault took place. A forensic search is being made of the property and weapons are being sought. We are conducting house to house enquiries in the area and are appealing for anyone who may have information to call police on 101 quoting Operation Anise or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Two men are currently in custody.
