Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour (BBPT) is on its way to Crawley and Horley.
BBPT, in aid of children’s charity Variety, will make its way to the Railway, in Brighton Road, on Sunday evening.
As the first and largest pub tour ever attempted in the UK by a national pub operator, all 620 pubs and 12,000 employees are raising funds for Variety.
The company smashed its fundraising target of £100,000 within six weeks of the 19-week tour, putting it on track to be the biggest single fundraising event in aid of Variety with more than £170,000 raised so far.
As well as hosting fun events at the pubs, a giant BBPT passport is travelling 5,555 miles throughout the UK visiting each Stonegate business.
Staff and customers have already been fundraising for the charity by running karaoke evenings and £1 DJ requests.
General manager of the Railway Steve Cook said: “We are all raising money for Variety, the Children’s Charity.
“We have already been fundraising by donating the proceeds of a £1 a go Karaoke night and DJ request night to the charity.”
On Saturday evening there will be a live band playing and fundraising on the night.
As part of the fundraising, 50p from the sale of special charity tipples – Sweet Summer Pimm’s or a pint of specially brewed real ale, The Crawler (Golden Blonde ale 4.1 ABV)– will be donated to Variety.
The passport will leave the Railway in a minibus with staff in fancy dress at 11am on Wednesday, September 3, making its way to the Foresters, Victoria Road, Horley. The Foresters has also already been fundraising and is holding a 70s Disco on Friday, including a fundraising raffle, before the arrival of the passport next week.
Staff at the Foresters will create a human chain and will leave the pub with the passport at 11.30am on Wednesday, September 3, to arrive at the Kings Head, Balcome Road, Horley.
The Kings Head will be holding a celebration day and will announce the winners of a raffle for a BMX bike.
Deputy manager Emma Kelf, dressed as a Womble, will then transport the passport on a motorbike to the Feathers Hotel on Redhill High Street for 1pm.
To further boost funds, Stonegate have also teamed up with Pop Idol finalist and former soap star Jo Birchall to launch the single All About Love. It is available to pre-order on iTunes at http://bit.ly/1lrM2TE.
