Community champions from all neighbourhoods gathered at The Hawth last night (Thursday February 28) to celebrate Crawley Borough Council’s Let’s FACE It! projects.

More than 200 people joined the Mayor Keith Blake and Let’s FACE It! co-ordinator Ruth Growney to recognise the hard work put in by volunteers to improve the environments in which they live and work.

The award for outstanding group was presented, for the second year running, to the Three Bridges Forum while the Northgate Matters forum were named best newcomers.

Speaking after the celebration, Ruth praised the enthusiasm and resourcefulness of all involved and added: “The difference these community groups and residents make to the town is phenomenol.”

Let’s FACE (Focus Action for Crawley’s Environment) it! was launched by the council in 2005 and aims to increase levels of community cohesion and social inclusion, and help make neighbourhoods cleaner and greener.
