Anyone who enjoys reading, writing and listening to music is going to love the next couple of weeks.

Crawley WordFest begins tomorrow (Saturday March 16) with a launch party at the Hawth from 7.30pm. The DoStuffBus – packed with authors, artists, publishers and musicians – will be parked in the grounds.

The bus dropped in at Maidenbower Junior School this week for a pre-launch event where author Siobhan Rowden met the children.

The Hawth and Crawley Library will be the focal points for the festival and the fortnight promises author talks, panel discussions, workshops, open mic sessions, music, comedy, performances, local history and a quiz.

Highlights will include open mic sessions with authors Darren Shan and Nicola Upson while aspiring writers can head for the Beach Hut Writers Panel and the Myriad Graphic Novel Panel.

Next Saturday (March 23) will be turned over to a dedicated Children & Young Person’s Festival at Crawley Library from 9am-5pm.
