Video: London to Brighton veteran car run
Drivers and passengers in the Veteran Car Run endured a wet and cold start as they passed through Mid Sussex towns and villlages this morning Sunday October 4).
They faced a test almost as tough as that for their motors in the chilly weather and heavy rain on their way from London to Brighton.
Conditions were expected to be a little better later today for the RAC-organised 60 mile run.
More than 500 drivers set out from Hyde Park at first light today in their pre-1905 vehicles, at an average speed of about 20mph.
Spectators sought shelters from a series of heavy showers as the cars passed with crews waving bravely.
After a break at Crawley they passed through Pease Pottage, Handcross, Cuckfield, Ansty, Burgess Hill, Hassocks and Clayton on route to the formal finish in Preston Park, before a ceremonial finish in Madeira Drive, Brghton.
