Walkers raise thousands for St Catherine’s Hospice
MORE than 300 people took part in a sponsored walk and raised thousands of pounds for St Catherine’s Hospice.
On September 9 325 people joined the Balcombe Walk and raised £13,789 in direct donations and sponsorship for the hospice in Malthouse Road, Southgate.
The event was organised by volunteers from the charity’s Haywards Heath Support group.
The walkers included Catherine Lewis, of Crawley, who lost her husband Gary to cancer last year and was walking in his memory.
She was joined by her friend Anne Steer.
Barbara Dryden, community fundraiser for St Catherine’s Hospice, said, “The weather was lovely this year and we were delighted to welcome more walkers and raise more money than last year. We are grateful to all the walkers and helpers, who made this such a great success.”
